Kevin’s introduction to the real estate business was through having a rental property of his own. “I wasn’t looking for a new career when I started,” Kevin says, “but I enjoyed learning more.” His degree was in healthcare administration and marketing, but Kevin soon realized that he had a lot to offer as a real estate professional, and he took the licensing exam.
Understanding the local market, Kevin looks at each home realistically. He believes that one of the best tips for home buyers is to start the home buying process with a loan officer or mortgage professional. “I try to make sure that buyers don’t get into a situation where they have spent so much money on their home that they can’t enjoy it, Kevin says.
One of Kevin’s favorite stories is about a young couple that wanted a fixer-upper. The home was in foreclosure, and the previous owners had virtually destroyed the interior. Kevin’s real test came when the couple’s parents came to see the house. “I kept telling the young man’s mother, ‘Please know there are better homes out there’…” Kevin said. “The mother told me that her son had vision of what the house could be, and they bought the house.” The family has been in the home for 4 years now and loves it.
On a personal level, Kevin enjoys acting in a Christian drama group in the Springfield area. He has several local recommendations for not-to-miss spots, including the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. “Augie’s Front Burner is one of my favorite spots for dinner, “Kevin says.
